PRP IS EFFECTIVE FOR CHRONIC TENDON INJURIES

A new paper was published in the June 2016 issue of the American Journal of Sports Medicine looking at the effectiveness of PRP (platelet-rich plasma) in the treatment of chronic tendon injuries. The study concluded that "There is good evidence to support the use of a single injection of PRP under ultrasound guidance in tendinopathy."

However, the authors were careful to point out the following: "Both the preparation and intratendinous injection technique of PRP appear to be of great clinical significance."

In other words, if the PRP isn’t prepared properly, or injected properly, the results will not be as good. So you need a very good physician who is using a very good quality PRP.

At Valley Sports Physicians Dr. Tortland is an internationally recognized expert in ultrasound guided musculoskeletal injections. He also developed and pioneered his own proprietary method for creating a high quality PRP. So you can be assured of excellence both in the preparation of our PRP and in the injection technique!
